The McFadden Challenge Program The McFadden Challenge Program is a one-day outdoor leadership workshop that offers youth and adult, ages 13 and up, a physical and mental challenge. It is a combination of new games, innovative problem solving, and a ropes course that add up to high adventure. Our approach to education, counseling, and recreation, puts a high level of expectation inside a cocoon of support and caring. Its objectives are to: Develop and strengthen the mental and physical skills of older youth and adults. Offer a challenge to participants to accomplish a high level of self-confidence, individual self-worth, personal growth, and achievement. Strengthen interpersonal relationship skills of older youth and adults so as to become a functioning team member. The typical program is a day-long event that begins in the morning with warm-up exercises and games designed to promote trust and initiative among the participants. As the group progresses, they move to the low course elements that are similar to an obstacle course, but are designed to develop problem solving skills, communication, and team building. After lunch, the group will move to the high elements. At this level the participants will encounter a higher degree of difficulty with each element. Activities begin at ground level and move up to 30 feet from the ground. The high elements help push people out of that comfort zone to accomplish some things they've never done before.

What about younger children? The Camp McFadden Ropes Course is designed for sixth grade through adults. Some components can be used by younger groups. Please call us to discuss options for younger children.
What about Extreme Sports Experience? If your group wants the extreme sports experience of the high ropes course, we can offer that, too. From the rush of the zip line to the feeling of accomplishment walking across the high elements, we can design a half-day program for your group.
What do we need to bring? Bring a picnic lunch and plenty of liquids to drink, particularly during warm weather. Ice water is provided. You may want to bring blankets to sit on. Wear loose comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Shorts during hot weather are great, but there might be a slight risk of abrasion. Tennis shoes or light hiking boots make the best footwear. No open-toes shoes or sandals. Bring suntan lotion, insect repellent, sunglasses, and hat. No jewelry. Remember to bring your camera.
What does it cost? The charge is $20 per participant with a minimum of ten per group for the one-day McFadden Challenge Program. Groups who only want the Extreme Sports Experience of the High Ropes elements for a half a day or less can book for $15 per participant with a minimum of ten per group.
